In a directive, the Union Finance Ministry has asked its employees not to use AI tools in their official devices like office computers and office-issued phones.
“It has been determined that AI tools and AI Apps (such as DeepSeek and ChatGPT etc) in the office computers and devices pose a confidentiality risk for government documents. It is, therefore, advised that the use of AI tools/AI apps in office devices may be strictly avoided. This may be brought to notice of all employees”, the notice by the Finance Ministry says.
The circular is dated 19 January.

It is notable here that there have been some concerns about AI tools using data from users to store personal information of users.
