The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the CBI has arrested 4 persons in the Tirupati Laddu Ghee adulteration case, including the MD of the Tamil Nadu dairy firm. The 4 persons arrested include R Rajasekharan, the MD of Dindigul-based AR Dairy, Vipin Jain and Pomil Jain of Uttarakhand-based Bhole Baba Dairy and Apoorva Chawda from the Vaishnavi Dairy in Nellore.

TOI reported that the arrests were made after over 3 days of interrogation. They were produced before the local magistrate in Tirupati for remand.

The SIT revealed serious violations in the Ghee supply, wit irregularities involved in every step of the supply chain, the TOI report said.

The controversy erupted in September 2024 when Andhra CM N Chandrababu Naidu revealed that a laboratory examination found that ghee adulterated with beef tallow and other contaminants was supplied to Tirupati for the preparation of laddus.
