On Friday (3rd January), locals apprehended a man while trying to kidnap an underage Hindu girl girl in broad daylight. The incident occurred in Dulhingaj in Gaya city of Bihar.
According to reports, the accused was identified as Mohammed Mujahib Sheikh. He and his accomplice abducted an 8-year-old. Mohammed’s plans were however thwarted by an elderly woman.
She stopped him from running away with the minor and rescued the victim in the process. Alert locals intervened and caught hold of Mohammed. His aide however managed to flee the scene.
The locals thrashed the accused and handed him over to the Gaya police. A First Information Report (FIR) was registered against Mohammed Mujahib Sheikh in connection to the case. He is a resident of Jaipur city of Rajasthan.

Mohammed is now being interrogated by the police. The girl has been handed over to her family.
It has come to light that some youths were using drugs in the locality, leading to frequent confrontations with the residents.
Despite being warned several times, the youths would keep returning to the locality. Two of them tried to lure an 8-year-old Hindu girl while she was en route to a local shop to buy goods.
The locals claimed that such incidents have been happening in the locality and that the police did not not take action. They have demanded an increase in patrolling and security of the residents of the area.
