A Hinduphobic incident came to light in the RK Puram colony of the Sainikpuri area in Hyderabad on October 14, 2026, where a woman named Noorjahan dumped fish waste on prasadam being distributed during Navratri celebrations. The woman was arrested by the police and thereafter sent to judicial remand.
As per reports, the incident happened during a Navratri celebration held at Sri Pochamma Maisamma Jayadurga Devalayam temple in the locality. As part of Navratri celebrations, a group of Hindu women was distributing prasadam in front of the temple. They had also set up food distribution tables on the street outside the house of Noorjahan, which is located opposite the temple.
Noorjahan objected to the setting up of food distribution tables outside her house and got into an argument with the Hindu devotees. The Hindu devotees countered her saying that they had been setting up the tables every day and it had not been an issue until then.

Miffed with the Hindu festival celebrations outside her house, Noorjahan dumped fish waste and water that had been used to wash fish from her house at the place where food distribution tables were placed. When the Hindu devotees confronted Noorjahan, her 86-year-old grandmother, Shainbiya Bibi, came out in her support and told the Hindu devotees to do whatever they wanted.
Subsequently, Muntha Ramesh Yadav registered an FIR at the Neredmet Police Station in connection with the incident. The FIR was lodged under Sections 196(2), 299, 351(2) and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Yadav said that the two women have repeatedly engaged in similar Hinduphobic behaviour over the past 10 years. He said that the Muslim women make derogatory remarks about Hindu religious practices, including calling Hindu worship ‘stone worship’ and mocking the frequency of Hindu festivals and celebrations. Yadav also accused the Muslim women of troubling local Hindu women and threatening the temple association. An investigation has been launched into the matter, with Sub-Inspector S Sai Avinash leading it.
This is not the only incident where Hindus have faced obstruction in their religious celebrations. Every year, similar incidents of Hindu festivals and religious activities are targeted by such anti-Hindu and fundamentalist elements.
