‘I feel like a warden in a ladies’ hostel’: Chiranjeevi’s ‘sexist’ comments desiring for a grandson “to carry on his legacy” sparks a row

South Indian filmstar Chiranjeevi has courted controversy for his “sexist” remarks at the Brahma Anandam pre-release event, which he attended as the chief guest. While speaking at the event, he mocked his son for having daughters and expressed his desire for a grandson to carry his legacy.

He also joked about feeling like he lives in a “ladies’ hostel” at home, as he is surrounded by granddaughters.

Chiranjeevi said, “At home, it doesn’t feel like I’m with my granddaughters; instead, I feel like a warden in a ladies’ hostel, surrounded by women everywhere. I keep hoping and telling (Ram) Charan to have a boy this time so that our legacy continues. But his daughter is the apple of his eye… I fear he might have another girl.”

Chiranjeevi became a grandfather once again when his son, Ram Charan, and daughter-in-law, Upasana, welcomed their baby girl on June 20, 2023.
