Infosys co-founder Kris Gopalakrishnan, Bengaluru IISC Director and 16 others booked under SC-ST Act

Infosys co-founder Kris Gopalakrishnan, former Bengaluru IISC Director Balaram and 16 others have been booked under the SC-ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act on the orders of the 71st civil and sessions court in Bengaluru, Karnataka.

The case is based on a complaint filed by one Durgappa, a former faculty member at IISC Bengaluru’s Centre for Sustainable Technology. Durgappa reportedly belongs to the tribal Bovi community, and he has alleged that he was falsely implicated in a honey trap case in 2014, leading to his sacking and expulsion from IISC Bengaluru.

Durgappa’s FIR names Infosys co-founder Gopalakrishnan, a member of the IISC’s Board of Trustees, IISC Director Govindan Rangarajan, and many other faculty members. Gopalakrishnan is also the former CEO of Infosys, the former President of the CII and a Padma Bhushan awardee.

Durgappa’s complain alleges misuse of power and position by the accused persons, falsely implicating him and ordering his termination from IISC.

Other accused persons in the case include Sridhar Warrier, Sandhya Vishwaswaraiah, Hari KVS, Chattopadhyay K, Hemalatha Mhishi and many others.
