‘I can also give what Kangana Ranaut and Smriti Irani gave to PM Modi’: Rakhi Sawant triggers outrage over sexual innuendo against BJP leaders

Controversial entertainer Rakhi Sawant has once again crossed the line with her remarks about BJP MP Kangana Ranaut and former Union minister Smriti Irani, dragging Prime Minister Narendra Modi into the controversy through an extremely derogatory and suggestive reference. In a recent episode of the podcast MK Talks, hosted by Mohsin Khan, Rakhi Sawant made vulgar comments about Kangana Ranaut and Smriti Irani while talking about their political rise and their association with PM Modi.

During the conversation, the host reminded Rakhi Sawant that a few months ago she had asked PM Modi for a “lotus”. Sawant replied, “I’m lotus only, born in mud.” She then made a series of suggestive remarks about PM Modi, Kangana Ranaut and Smriti Irani.

“Why is Modi ji looking here and there? What will he get from Kangana apart from bones? Modi ji, what have these Smriti, Kangana and all these women given you that you made them ministers? So whatever they gave you, I can also give you,” Rakhi said.

When the host asked, “What?”, she replied, “What? Love! Big respect!” while making utterly derogatory gestures. The host then pointed out that her statement could be interpreted differently. Rakhi Sawant responded that she was only talking about “respect” with the same gesture and said, “These people gave respect; I will also give you respect, Modi ji.”

The exchange continued with the host referring to Kangana Ranaut and Smriti Irani, after which Rakhi Sawant said, “I thought Modi ji was a simple and straightforward saint.”

While the podcast was released on 26th August 2026, the clip in question has gone viral online now and triggered outrage.

Sexual innuendo aimed at Kangana

Rakhi Sawant’s comments did not merely question Kangana Ranaut’s political career. The way she framed the remarks insinuated that Kangana Ranaut and Smriti Irani had provided sexual favours to PM Modi in return for political advancement. The remark was presented as an innuendo and is particularly objectionable because it reduces a woman’s political career to a sexual suggestion.

This is not the first time Rakhi has targeted Kangana Ranaut with personal and abusive remarks. During the controversy surrounding the CJP protests, Rakhi Sawant called Kangana Ranaut a “chudail” and a “gutter mouth” over Kangana’s comments about Gen Zs.

Sawant questioned Ranaut’s political rise, saying, “What did you do to become an MP? If you ever go out and contest elections, you won’t even get people’s votes.” Referring to the 2024 Chandigarh airport slap incident, Rakhi warned Kangana that she would continue to face people’s anger if she spoke in that manner.

Selective outrage and Congress’ performative feminism

The larger problem is how casually such outrageous comments about women are made when the woman happens to be politically associated with the BJP. Remarks that would normally be condemned as sexist or misogynistic are often treated differently when the target is Kangana Ranaut or another woman perceived to be on the political right.

The irony becomes even sharper when Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi repeatedly speaks about “smash the patriarchy”, but it doesn’t trigger any outrage from the pro-Congress cabal while women associated with BJP are subjected to sexualised attacks and personal abuse.

While the Congress ecosystem frequently screams ‘smash the patriarchy’ on selective platforms, leaders within their own party continue to make filthy comments about women without accountability.

A stark example of this hypocrisy was seen when Congress National Spokesperson Supriya Shrinate posted a ‘racy’ picture of Kangana Ranaut on Instagram in March 2024, when Kangana was contesting the election from Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi constituency.

A now-deleted post featured a racy picture of Kangana along with the caption, “Kya bhav chal raha hai Mandi mein koi batayega?” Shrinate later shielded herself, claiming that someone with access to her social-media accounts posted the objectionable content and that she had removed it after becoming aware of it.
