‘Islamic countries don’t allow Namaz on roads, similar restrictions in India should be looked as law and order issue’: RSS leader Sunil Ambekar

RSS leader Sunil Ambekar has stated that restrictions on Namaz on roads should not be looked at as a law and order issue. He made the remarks during an interview with The Hindu, which was published on Sunday (22nd March).

During the interview, Ambekar was asked about FIRs lodged against Muslims for offering Namaz on the streets.

“Even Muslim-majority countries do not allow prayers on roads and have designated places for worship,” he pointed out.

The RSS leader added, “When the government restricts namaz on roads, it should be seen as a law-and-order decision, not a religious restriction.”

He also raised alarms about growing demographic change and population imbalance.

“Some people understand that even if their worship practices change, they still share the same ancestors and history. But a section felt that because their traditions were altered, the country no longer belonged to them. This contributed to the partition of India—a phenomenon also seen elsewhere, like Lebanon,” Sunil Ambekar emphasised.
