Kameshwar Chaupal, the ‘first Karsewak’ who laid the first brick of Ram Mandir in 1989, passes away at 68

Ayodhya Ram Mandir trustee Kameshwar Chaupal has passed away at the age of 68 due to prolonged kidney ailments. As per reports, Chaupal breathed his last at the Gangaram Hospital in Delhi.

Kameshwar Chaupal was regarded as the ‘first Karsewak’. In 1989 he had laid the first brick for the construction of the Ram Mandir at the Ram Janmabhoomi. He was also a former MLC from Bihar.

As per reports, Chaupal’s daughter had donated a kidney to him earlier. But the transplant did not work and he eventually passed away early on the morning of Friday, 7 February.

Kameshwar Chaupal was born on 24 April 1956 in Bihar’s Supaul district. He was a prominent social worker and throughout a long public life, he was associated with numerous organisations like the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Vanvasi Kalyan Kendra, RSS, and ABVP.
