Counter-protest by Khalistani
During the protest, around 10 men carrying yellow flags associated with the Khalistan movement arrived and positioned themselves directly in front of the high commission.
They began shouting anti-India and anti-Hindu slogans and praised the recently assassinated extremist, Sharif Osman Hadi. This led to tension at the site, following which police stepped in to keep the two groups separated and prevent any clash.
Protest for Dipu Das lynching and persecution of Hindus
A protest by members of the Hindu community was staged outside the Bangladesh High Commission to condemn the lynching of Dipu Chandra Das and to highlight the wider persecution of Hindus in Bangladesh.
The protest saw participation from more than 500 people, including Hindus of Bangladeshi and Indian origin, who gathered peacefully and raised slogans demanding justice.
Participants of the protest said they were deeply disturbed by the brutal murder of Dipu Das, a garment factory worker, who was lynched on 18th December in the Mymensingh district of Bangladesh.

Protesters chant slogans such as “Hindus Lives Matter” and carry placards calling for justice for Dipu Das, protection of minorities in Bangladesh, and the release of Hindu monk Chinmoy Krishna Das, who is currently in jail.
The protest was organised by the Bengali Hindu Adarsha Saangha (UK). Participants stood calmly behind police barriers on the opposite side of the road from the Bangladesh mission, ensuring that the demonstration remained peaceful and orderly.
Protest organisers say an attempt was made to instigate Hindus
One of the protest organisers, Prajjwal Biswas from West Bengal, said he did not understand why Khalistan supporters turned up at a protest that had nothing to do with their cause. He said their presence appeared to be an attempt to provoke and instigate the Hindu protesters.
Voices from the Hindu community
Shuchishmita, who was born in Bangladesh and has extended family still living there, said the persecution of Hindus in Bangladesh has been happening for centuries but rarely receives media attention. She said she joined the protest to demand justice and stressed that such treatment of the Hindu community should not be accepted anymore.
Vikram Banerjee, a British person of Indian origin whose family migrated from what was then East Pakistan to India, said the situation was extremely serious. He called on both India and the UK to take firm action, warning that many innocent Hindus are in danger.
He also pointed out that Western media has largely ignored the lynching of Dipu Das, leaving the British public unaware of what is happening to Hindus in Bangladesh.
