On 12th September (Saturday), a shooting incident occurred near the Sironj agricultural market between 7:00 pm and 7:30 pm in Madhya Pradesh. The accused, who has been identified as Amir Mavia, shot a man named Vikram Ahirwar, who belongs to the scheduled caste community, following a dispute over the position of labour supervisor (mukaddam). The victim had been referred to Vidisha for further treatment.

According to Dainik Bhaskar, Amir wanted to portray himself as a mukaddam within the wholesale market (mandi). Vikram, who was a porter and his colleagues maintained their opposition to his plans, and a prolonged disagreement regarding this matter had persisted between the two parties.
On 8th September, Vikram even filed an FIR (First Information Report) against Amir at the Sironj police station, and the SC/ST Act was invoked against him. The management of the mandi and its inspector likewise submitted a formal complaint against Amir the next day. However, the police have been accused of refusing to take any action in the matter.
On Saturday evening, Amir shot Vikram in the vicinity of a tea establishment adjacent to the mandi. According to an eyewitness, the perpetrator engaged in conversation with the latter before proceeding to his motorcycle, where he retrieved a pistol and discharged it. A second eyewitness also revealed that Amir wanted to attain the position of mukaddam for entitlement to a portion of the payment given to labourers without engaging in any substantive work himself.
According to Dr Suja from Sironj Hospital, who provided medical treatment to Vikram, the bullet grazed his genital region before becoming lodged within his thigh. He has been transferred to Vidisha Medical Centre, and his present condition is assessed as stable. Vikram has also verified that a shot was fired, after which he was wounded in the genital region.
Sironj SDOP Sonu Dabar assured that the culprit would soon be arrested. Police teams, comprising SDOPs and officers from the Lateri and Kurwai stations, have been deployed to Sironj to uphold law and order.
