A shocking murder case has come to light from Bhopal, where a small argument turned deadly late at night on 29th March. A 35-year-old Hindu man was stabbed to death by Asif and his associates after he tried to calm down the accused by calling him “son.”
The incident took place in the Ashoka Garden area. The victim, identified as Vijay Mewada, was attacked while returning home after work.
A dispute broke out on the way back home
According to police, Vijay ran two tea stalls in the area and was heading home around 1:30 am after closing his shop. He had just dropped his employees off in Pragati Nagar when the incident happened.
At the spot, the main accused, Asif alias Bam, was sitting with his associates, Farman, Kalu, and Imran. They were known to Vijay’s employees. The accused asked the workers to accompany them, but they refused, saying they had to work early the next morning.
This led to an argument, during which the accused misbehaved with the employees. Vijay stepped in to stop the fight and tried to calm things down.
Attempt to pacify turns fatal
Police said Vijay addressed Asif as “son” in an attempt to defuse the situation. However, this angered the accused further. In a sudden escalation, Asif pulled out a knife and stabbed Vijay in the stomach. His associates also joined in and assaulted him before all of them fled the scene.
Vijay was rushed to a nearby private hospital by locals and his employees, but doctors declared him dead.
The incident triggered anger among the victim’s family and locals. On Monday morning, 30th March, they blocked a road in Subhash Colony, demanding strict action. The protest was cleared after police intervened, though arguments broke out during the process.
Tension was also seen outside the mortuary at Hamidia Hospital, where police were deployed to maintain order. Police said three suspects have been detained, while the main accused is still absconding. A search operation is currently underway to arrest him.
