A major encounter between security personnel and Maoists has occurred at the Chhattisgarh-Odisha border today on 21 January. As per reports, 14 Naxals have been killed, including the most wanted terrorist Chalapathi. Chalapathi was the head of Srikalulam-Koraput division among the Left-wing terrorists in the area.

As per reports, the encounter took place in the Gariaband area in Chhattisgarh, close to Odisha border. The slain Naxal leader Chalapathi was reportedly carrying an award of Rs 1 crore on his head. The encounter is still ongoing, the Chhattisgarh police have informed.
