The BJP is poised to win the Milkipur byelections. Chandrabhanu Paswan, the party’s candidate, is leading with over 36,000 votes against Samajwadi Party candidate Ajit Prasad after thirteen rounds of counting.
The Milkipur by-polls had become a battle of prestige for the BJP, especially after the Lok Sabha 2024 loss in Faizabad, which houses Ayodhya, the town where Lord Ram was born and a majestic temple dedicated to him was consecrated last year.
The Lok Sabha elections from Faizabad seat was won by Samajwadi Party candidate Awadhesh Prasad, following which the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh started preparations for the Milkipur bypolls.
