Bangladesh: Muhammad Yunus hounds niece of Sheikh Hasina, intimidates UK govt to sack her as Minister

Muhammad Yunus, the chief advisor to the interim government of Bangladesh, is now hounding Tulip Siddiq, the niece of Sheikh Hasina.

Siddiq is a resident of the United Kingdom. She has served as an MP from the Hampstead and Highgate constituency and is currently the City Minister in the Keir Starmer-led-Labour party government.

According to a report by The Times newspaper, Muhammad Yunus has accused Tulip Siddiq of acquiring properties in London through ‘unlawful means’ during the tenure of her aunt Sheikh Hasina as Bangladesh’s Prime Minister.

He has called for an investigation into homes owned by Siddiq, alleging that they were gifted by ‘allies of her aunt’s deposed regime.’ While dubbing it ‘plain robbery’, the controversial Nobel laureate demanded the ‘return’ of the assets to Bangladesh.

Muhammad Yunus claimed, “She becomes the minister for anti-corruption and defends herself (over the London properties).”

He alleged, “If a UK parliament member is involved, definitely it’s a big issue…we got used to (the previous regime) taking away everything, so we feel relieved that you’re bringing this (issue) to the attention of the world.”

Following his outrageous claims, the Opposition Conservative Party is now seeking the resignation of Tulip Siddiq. According to a cabinet minister, an independent investigation is underway into her conduct and Prime Minister Keir Starmer will act as per the findings.
