Maharashtra: Hindu woman accuses Shabas Razzak Sheikh of forcing abortions and pressuring her to convert to Islam for marriage in Mira-Bhayandar

A Hindu woman from the Mira-Bhayandar area near Mumbai has filed a complaint against a Muslim man and his family, accusing them of harassment, assault, and pressuring her to change her religion. Based on her complaint, Kashigaon Police in the Kashimira area have registered a case and started an investigation.

The complaint includes marriage promise and conversion pressure

According to the woman, she met Shabas Razzak Sheikh while working at a private company in Malad in 2022. Their friendship gradually turned into a relationship. She said that in 2023, he promised to marry her, gained her trust, and later entered into a physical relationship with her.

The woman stated that the two later lived together in a rented house in the Mira Road area. During that period, she became pregnant twice. She aded that Shabas forced her to undergo abortions and also pressured her to convert to Islam as a condition for marriage.

Family members also named in complaint

The complaint further states that on 28th May, when the woman went to the accused’s house, she was beaten by his family members. She has named them in the complaint and sought action against them as well.

Police Investigation Underway

Kashigaon Police have registered a case against Shabas Razzak Sheikh and his family members under various sections of the Indian Penal Code. Officials said the investigation is in progress, and further legal action will be taken after the facts are verified.
