Bangladesh: Alal Uddin vandalises idol of Goddess Kali in Mymensingh, then tries to create fake alibi

On Thursday (19th December), a Muslim man vandalised an idol at the Polashkanda Kali Temple. The incident occurred in Haluaghat upazila in the Mymensingh district of Bangladesh.

According to a report by The Daily Star, the attacker was identified as 27-year-old Alal Uddin. He confessed to the crime during his interrogation by the police.

Alal Uddin was arrested on Friday (20th December) and produced before a local court. He was thereafter remanded to custody.

Interestingly, the Muslim man tried to create a fake alibi after vandalising the idol of Goddess Kali.

As per a report by Daily Bangladesh, Alal Uddin pretended to be a passerby who ‘chanced upon’ the witnessed the destroyed idol of the Hindu deity.

To avoid suspicion, he even informed the temple’s priest Subhash Chandra Roy about the vandalism. It later transpired that it was Alal Uddin who was behind the extremist act.
