On 27th April, multiple shocking disclosures surfaced during the court proceedings concerning the sexual harassment scandal at TCS BPO in Nashik. Special Public Prosecutor Ajay Mishra notified the court that the accused Nida Khan has been found to have connections extending to Malegaon and Malaysia.
The development transpired during the final hearing of Khan’s anticipatory bail application. The inquiry has progressed to a point where concerns about pressurised religious conversions and the acquisition of financial support to enable these actions are also coming to light.
The prosecution asserted that the Dalit victim’s name had been changed to “Haniya” and efforts were underway to convert her to Islam with the help of specific individuals from Malegaon. The inquiry further uncovered that the accused had intended to transport her to Malaysia by trapping her with the offer of employment. The investigators mentioned that her personal documents might have been obtained and intended to be supplied to Malegaon contacts.
Mishra highlighted that the woman belongs to backward community and faced persistent pressure. She was threatened and instructed in Islamic traditions and rituals. She was reportedly influenced to wear a hijab and a burqa, in addition to training on how to perform namaz. Furthermore, Nida Khan had provided her with a burqa and religious texts, which have now been confiscated by the authorities. She would accompany the complainant to her home and teach her how to conduct the prayers and correctly put on a burqa and hijab.
The victim’s comprehensive statements were documented in front of magistrate and later submitted to the court. The prosecution also mentioned that the perpetrators had downloaded Islamic reels and YouTube links onto her mobile phone. Her family members have also given their statements regarding this matter.
The prosecution stated that aspects involving a foreign connection, coerced religious conversion and a possible conspiracy are under thorough probe in this case. The information presented to the court has intensified the gravity of this issue. Now, special attention will be paid to the revelation of the Malaysian connection and funding of the accused.
