Securing a major offshore milestone, the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) began gas monetisation via the Daman Upside Development Project (DUDP) on 29th March 2026. This gives a massive boost to India’s domestic natural gas production. Following a successful commissioning, the platform has sent gas to the Hazira Plant for processing.
Located about 180 kilometres north-west of Mumbai and about 80 km south of Pipavav, Gujarat, in the Arabian Sea, the Daman Upside Development Project has a capex of about USD 1 billion.
Taking to X, the ONGC informed about the milestone achieved and wrote, “The #ONGC Daman Upside Development Project (DUDP), in the Arabian Sea, located about 180 km north west of Mumbai and about 80 km south of Pipavav, Gujarat, with a Capex of about USD 1 billion, has achieved a significant milestone on 29 March 2026 by monetisation through flowing gas from Platform B-12-24P. This platform has been successfully commissioned, and gas has been sent to Hazira Plant. The Project has been executed in less than two years from the date of award. This achievement is due to strong project execution, through innovative use of the Drill-Deck and strong performance by drilling and Production teams.”
