AAP leader and Punjab Transport and Jails Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar resigned on March 21, 2026 from his cabinet position following allegations linking him to the suicide of a senior official.
Gagandeep Singh Randhawa, District Manager of the Punjab Warehousing Corporation (PWC) posted in Amritsar, allegedly died by suicide on Friday evening after consuming a poisonous substance. In a short 12-second video message that surfaced on social media shortly after the incident, Randhawa purportedly blamed Minister Bhullar for harassment and pressure, stating fear of the minister and indicating he might not survive.
The video quickly went viral, sparking outrage and demands for accountability. Sources indicate that Randhawa accused Bhullar of involvement in issues related to tender allocations within the warehousing department. As per Randhawa’s video before his suicide, Bhullar was pressurising the DM to award a warehousing corporation tender to a political aide.

Randhawa stated that he refused the pressure and initiated a legitimate bidding process for the tender. Minister Bhullar then called Randhawa to his house, assaulted him, and forced him to “confess” on camera that he accepted a bribe of ₹10 lakh. The video was made in an attempt to blackmail the officer, Randhawa stated.
Hours after Randhawa’s suicide video emerged, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann directed Bhullar to resign. The minister tendered his resignation on Saturday morning, which was promptly accepted. Bhullar, an AAP MLA from Patti in Tarn Taran district, had held the Transport and Jail portfolios in the Mann cabinet.
CM Mann has ordered Chief Secretary KAP Sinha to launch a thorough probe into the circumstances of Randhawa’s death, the allegations in the video, and any related administrative matters, including potential irregularities in tender processes at the PWC.
