The Mumbai Police’s cyber cell unit has reportedly filed a case against 40 people, including all individuals involved in Episodes 1 to 6 of India’s Got Latent, including guest participants, a day after Ranveer Allahbadia, Samay Raina, Apoorva Makhija, Jaspreet Singh, and Ashish Chanchlani were booked for the offensive viral videos.
The cyber cell has begun issuing notices, summoning everyone to record their statements. Three different groups and individuals had lodged police complaints in Maharashtra over Allahbadia’s controversial remark. Among those who criticized him was Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
“I have been informed about the incident, although I haven’t watched it yet. I understand that it was highly inappropriate, which is unacceptable. While everyone has the right to freedom of speech, that freedom ends when it infringes upon others’ rights. There are limits, and if anyone crosses them, action will be taken,” the Chief Minister stated.
The controversy erupted after snippets from India’s Got Latent—the show known for its edgy and often provocative content among young viewers—featuring Mr Allahbadia asking a contestant a question related to parents and sex went viral on social media, attracting widespread outrage and condemnation.
