Congress MP Rakesh Rathore was arrested earlier today, January 30, in a rape case from Uttar Pradesh’s Sitapur. Rathore was in the middle of a press conference when he was arrested by the cops.
Rakesh Rathore represents Congress as a Member of Parliament in Lok Sabha from Sitapur. He is accused of sexually exploiting a woman for four years under the pretext of marrying her. Notably, this arrest comes a day after the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court rejected his anticipatory bail plea in the matter.
The High Court bench of Justice Rajesh Singh Chauhan disposed of the anticipatory bail plea and asked Rathore to surrender in the sessions court within two weeks.
Earlier, the victim woman filed a complaint with the Uttar Pradesh Police, and they registered a case against Rakesh Rathore on January 17.
