‘Suspended’ Uttarakhand police constable pretends to resign from service during CJP protest, hailed as hero by Abhijeet Dipke: Read the truth about the disgraced cop

A video has been going viral on social media showing an Uttarakhand police constable extending support to the Cockroach Janta Party’s (CJP) protest and handing over his resignation letter to CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke. In the viral video, the constable named Sher Singh can be heard invoking and drawing inspiration from freedom fighter Bhagat Singh.

Addressing the protestors, Sher Singh alleged that question paper leaks are a common problem in Uttarakhand, where, according to him, question papers of examinations are openly sold at Kirana shops. Referring to himself as a Baaghi (rebel), Singh announced his resignation from the stage in a dramatic manner. He pulled out the badges from his police uniform and handed them to Dipke, “Today, Sher Singh (himself) resigns from the job of the Uttarakhand Police.”

The video was widely shared on social media as people were left amazed seeing a man in police uniform resigning live on stage and joining the protests against the government. However, the visuals convey only partial truth. After the video went viral, the Uttarakhand Police issued a statement revealing the antecedents of Sher Singh.

IG Kumaon Range Nivedita Kukreti said on Friday (24th July) that Sher Singh has made false and unfounded statements at the Jantar Mantar. She added that Sher Singh has been absent from duty without authorisation since 28th June in Pithoragarh district. He was served a notice regarding his absence, which he failed to respond to. Subsequently, on 20th July, he was suspended.

“Currently, a constable, Sher Singh, is making a baseless statement inciting student protests, which is going viral. Regarding this constable, it is worth noting that he was unauthorisedly absent from Pithoragarh district since June 28, 2026. In this regard, he was issued a notice by the SP, Pithoragarh, and upon not receiving a response, he was suspended on July 20, 2026,” IG Kukreti said.

She further said that Sher Singh has a criminal history. He has been involved in organised criminal activities and has been working in connivance with a local gangster named Parveen Valmiki. He and his associates used to threaten people and grab their lands. An FIR was lodged against him in 2025 at Haridwar. He was also arrested and sent to jail.

“He and another colleague were involved in organised crime in connivance with a notorious gangster, Praveen Valmiki. They used to intimidate innocent people and seize their land. He was arrested and sent to jail on 15 January 2025. He spent several months in jail and is currently out on bail. In this context, dismissal proceedings were also going on against him and currently, necessary legal and departmental action is being taken in relation to the baseless statement given by him,” the cop added.

Turns out the CJP protest has become a den of criminals and anti-social elements, who are trying to whitewash their criminal past behind the so-called students’ protest.
