The opposition INDI Alliance continues to collapse following the defeat of the Alliance in last year’s Maharashtra Assembly Elections. Now one of the alliance partners Shiv Sena (UBT) has announced that they will fight the upcoming Civic Polls in Mumbai on their own, and will not ally with Congress or NCP (Sharad Pawar).
The party made the announcement on Saturday, January 11. Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut said, “In an alliance, workers of individual parties don’t get opportunities, and it hampers organisational growth. We will contest on our strength.”
Blaming the Congress party of the state of INDI Alliance in Mahrashtra, Raut said, “As the largest party of the alliance, it was the Congress’s responsibility to convene a meeting.” Notably, the alliance doesn’t even have a convenor in the state.
Municipal corporation elections are set to take place in major Maharashtra cities of Mumbai, Thane, Nagpur, among several other places.
