Uttar Pradesh: 55 LPG cylinders seized from the house of SP leader Abdul Rehan, case filed

Amid the ongoing concerns over Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), authorities in Uttar Pradesh recently seized 55 filled LPG cylinders from a premises belonging to Abdul Rehan, who is said to be a member of the Samajwadi Party. On receiving inputs about hoarding of LPG cylinders, the local authorities raided the house of Rehan, located in Asaura village in the Hapur district.

As per reports, the police are looking for Rehan, who fled on learning about the raid at his house. Locals alleged that Rehan has been selling the cylinder at the price of ₹2000 per cylinder. Inspector Neeraj, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Hapur Dehat, said that a case has been registered against the accused, Rehan, under the Essential Commodities Act, and legal action has been initiated. Notably, Hapur Samajwadi Party District President Anand Gurjar has denied Abdul Rehan’s association with the party.

The development comes after authorities intensified action against hoarding and black marketing of LPG cylinders at the direction of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
