Uttar Pradesh: Shamli Police arrest Samajwadi Party leader Taufeeq Qureshi in forced conversion case of Ayush Malik, accused is the brother of the victim’s wife Chandni

In a fresh update in the case related to the religious conversion of Hindu man Ayush Malik, the Shamli police have arrested Taufeeq Qureshi, who is a Samajwadi Party leader and the brother of Malik’s wife, Chandani Qureshi. The police had earlier arrested Chandani Qureshi and her father, Islam Qureshi, in connection with the case.

The case came to light after Ayush Malik’s father, Devraj Malik, a prominent pharmaceutical businessman in the area, registered an FIR at the City Kotwali police station on 6th June. In the FIR, Devraj Malik stated that his only son, Ayush Malik, was brainwashed by Chandni Qureshi and her family and converted to Islam. He said that Chandani Qureshi and her family were after Ayush’s wealth.

As per the FIR accessed by OpIndia, Ayush’s father said that Chandni Qureshi plotted with her sisters, Rahil Qureshi, Sumaila Qureshi, Rabia Qureshi, brother Aas Mohammad alias Aasoo Qureshi, father Islam Qureshi alias Niddu, Huma Qureshi, her wife of Shadab, Salim alias Bhola and a Maulana named Munavvar to trap Ayush Malik. All these people have been named as accused in the FIR filed under Sections 318(4), 336(3), 338, 61(2), 351(3), 308(5) of the BNS and Sections 3 and 5 of Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Act, 2021.
