West Bengal: BJP government launches ‘Apnar Sarkar Apnar Pashe’ helpline to reach out to people directly, resolve their grievances

On Wednesday, 3rd June, the BJP government in West Bengal has launched a new public grievance programme, “Apnar Sarkar Apnar Pashe” (Your Government, By Your Side), with the aim of helping people resolve issues they face in their daily lives. The initiative reflects the government’s message that it came to power with the blessings and support of the people of the state and is committed to staying connected with them.

Under the programme, citizens can directly inform the government about problems related to public services, welfare schemes and other administrative matters. The government says the platform will help strengthen communication between residents and different departments.

How can people reach the government

To make the process easier, a toll-free helpline number 82820 82820 has been introduced. People can call the number and register their complaints or seek assistance from the government. The service will be available from 9 am to 6 pm, Monday to Saturday. Citizens can also send their grievances through email at ‘[email protected]’.

From ‘Didi Ke Bolo’ to ‘Apnar Sarkar Apnar Pashe’

The programme replaces the earlier “Didi Ke Bolo” initiative that was introduced during the previous Trinamool Congress government led by Mamata Banerjee. Under that initiative, citizens could also directly report their problems to the government.

However, complaints were raised by some people that many issues remained unresolved even after being reported through the earlier system. After the change in government, the BJP government has decided to continue the programme under a new name and with a new helpline number.

The change is aimed at shifting the focus from an individual leader to the government as a whole. According to the state administration, governance is a collective effort, and the new title better reflects that approach.

‘Not Me, We’

Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has stressed the idea of “Not me, we.” The slogan is seen as the guiding principle behind the renamed programme. Through “Apnar Sarkar Apnar Pashe,” the government wants to send a message that the administration belongs to the people and stands ready to assist them whenever required.

Officials say the initiative is expected to serve as a direct bridge between citizens and the government, ensuring that people’s concerns reach the administration quickly and receive timely attention.
