‘When oil prices go up, we make a lot of money’: US President Donald Trump gloats amid ongoing war with Iran

On Thursday (12th March), Donald Trump courted controversy after he claimed that the US would make ‘significant money’ from high oil prices caused by the ongoing war with Iran.

According to reports, oil prices have shot up by 9% since the start of the US-Israeli war against Iran.

In a post on Truth Social, Donald Trump declared, “The United States is the largest Oil Producer in the World, by far, so when oil prices go up, we make a lot of money.”

His social media post soon led to backlash, with Democrats slamming the US President for caring about only rich people and ignoring the hardships faced by working Americans.

US Senator Mark Kelly stated, “The only ones benefiting from gas prices skyrocketing are the big oil companies. But it makes sense why Trump is happy about it because he’s only ever cared about rich people.”

It must be mentioned that US gasoline prices have continued to increase for 13 days since the outbreak of the war.
