Fresh drama unfolded at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on Saturday, 18th July, when a woman threw ink at Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke while he was addressing supporters at the protest site. The incident took place just hours after Delhi Police shifted activist Sonam Wangchuk to Safdarjung Hospital due to concerns about his health.
The incident briefly disrupted the programme as supporters rushed towards the stage, leading to chaos at the venue. A video of the incident shows Dipke’s brother, Sandeep Dipke, trying to stop the woman moments before she threw the liquid towards the stage.

Soon after the incident, an announcement was made from the podium informing the gathering that ink had been thrown at Abhijeet Dipke. The announcement triggered commotion among the protesters, with several people gathering around the stage.
Police officials reached the spot and detained the woman. Her identity and the reason behind the act were not immediately known. Police sources said further investigation is underway to find out what led to the incident.
Sonam Wangchuk shifted to the hospital earlier in the day
The incident came only hours after Delhi Police shifted activist Sonam Wangchuk from Jantar Mantar to Safdarjung Hospital following a deterioration in his health during his 20-day indefinite hunger strike.
The police action was carried out in compliance with directions issued by the Delhi High Court, which had ordered daily medical monitoring of Wangchuk and instructed authorities to ensure necessary medical intervention if his condition worsened.
In a statement posted on X, the DCP (New Delhi) said, “As per orders of the Hon’ble High Court and on expert medical advice, due to the deteriorating health condition of Sh. Sonam Wangchuk, he has been shifted to the hospital for essential medical care.”
The police also said that some protesters tried to stop the authorities during the operation.
“While complying with the orders of the Hon’ble High Court, the protestors tried to create obstruction, in which slight commotion ensued; however, police took maximum restraint and undertook the exercise safely. We request the protestors at Jantar Mantar to vacate the place at the earliest peacefully,” the statement added.
