Cyclone Chido hit the French archipelago of Mayotte in the Indian Ocean and left a trail of destruction in its wake. As per reports, the death toll could even possibly be in thousands due to the Cyclone.
Chido hit Mayotte overnight with winds of more than 200 kph leaving the archipelago devastated. Houses, government buildings, and hospitals, all suffered terrible damage due to the cyclone. This is the worst cyclone to hit Mayotte in nearly a century.
French Interior Ministry said the death toll couldn’t be determined at this stage as authorities try to focus on rescue operations. After passing through Mayotte, the cyclone hit Mozambique in Africa. The impact of the cyclone on Mozambique is not yet clear.
