To promote the social and economic empowerment of women, the Uttar Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, is working on a new initiative aimed at providing housing and healthcare security to women affected by serious circumstances such as triple talaq and acid attacks.
Under the proposed plan, eligible women will be provided permanent housing through the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) and the Chief Minister Housing Scheme. They will also be linked to healthcare coverage under Ayushman Bharat and the Mukhyamantri Jan Arogya Yojana. Following directions from Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Women Welfare Department has accelerated the process of implementing the initiative.
The department is currently preparing verified data on women affected by triple talaq, acid attack survivors, and destitute women to identify eligible beneficiaries and ensure they receive priority access to government welfare schemes. Necessary guidelines and administrative procedures are also being put in place.
The government believes that acid attack survivors often require long-term medical treatment, surgeries, and rehabilitation, while many women affected by triple talaq face significant social and economic hardships. Providing them with housing and healthcare security is expected to bring greater stability to their lives.
The state government is also coordinating with various departments to ensure that no eligible woman is deprived of the benefits of these welfare schemes and that they are allowed to live with dignity and security.
