Activist Zahack Tanvir, whose arrest in Saudi Arabia was celebrated by Indian Muslims, released from prison

Activist Zahack Tanvir, who was vocal against extremists & their anti-India agenda, is finally freed from prison in Saudi Arabia.

Tanvir confirmed the development on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday (3rd January) morning. He was arrested in December 2023 after being falsely accused of ‘working against the interests’ of the Saudi Arabian government.

Before his arrest, the activist was hounded by ISI and Pakistanis working in the Gulf country. Zahack Tanvir has thanked the Indian Embassy in Riyadh and the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) for their support during this challenging time.

“Let me be clear—I have not changed my past views or ideology. In fact, my beliefs have only solidified and become more grounded. I have always adhered to a version of Islam that vehemently opposes #Islamism and #MuslimBrotherhood,” he said in his tweet.

It must be mentioned that several Indian Muslims took to social media to celebrate the arrest of Zahack Tanvir.

They called him names and expressed their happiness over the incarceration of the activist.
