With Soros-linked funding backing ICG and his past criticism of India, the presence of former top Indian officials on its board and their public positions raise broader questions about alignment and influence.
According to a report by The Times of India, the matter came to light when ED was investigating funds totalling ₹25 crores routed from Soros Economic Development Fund to 3 companies in Bengaluru between 2021 and 2024.
The Soros Economic Development Fund (SEDF), a social impact investment arm of the OSF, reportedly provided funds to the tune of ₹300 crore to more than 12 companies in India.
The real concern arises with IFES’s private funders, which include Google, Meta, Microsoft, and Open Society Foundations (OSF). Notably, OSF is owned by George Soros, a figure widely accused of funding anti-India activities.
