Assam Election Commission issues final SR 2026 voter list for all 126 Assembly constituencies

The Election Commission of India on Tuesday, 10th February, released the final voter list for the Special Revision (SR) 2026 in Assam, which has included all 126 Assembly constituencies in the state. According to the revised list, Assam now has a total of 2,49,58,139 registered voters.

Officials said the final list shows a reduction of 2,43,485 voters compared to the draft voter list, which had recorded 2,52,01,624 electors. According to the Chief Electoral Officer of Assam, the revised figures came after detailed verification and the disposal of claims and objections received during the revision process.

The gender-wise data in the final rolls shows a near-equal split, with 1,24,82,213 male voters and 1,24,75,583 female voters. In addition, 343 voters have been registered under the third-gender category.

The integrated draft voter list for SR 2026 was published on 27th December, 2025. Before this, a large-scale house-to-house verification drive was carried out across Assam between 22nd November and 20th December, 2025.

During this period, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) visited households to verify voter details and identify corrections and additions.

After the publication of the draft list, citizens were given time to raise claims and objections between 27th December, 2025 and 22nd January 2026. Election officials said all submissions were examined carefully before finalising the rolls.

The Election Commission has also recently revised the schedule for the Special Intensive Revision process in West Bengal, extending the final publication of voter rolls there to 14th February, 2026. The extension was granted in view of large-scale enumeration work and the need for proper verification of polling stations.

The Election Commission has once again urged citizens to actively take part in voter list revision exercises, stating that accurate and updated electoral rolls are essential for conducting free and fair elections.
