A case of kidnapping and assault has come to light in Gujarat’s Gandhinagar, where police have arrested Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) state vice-president Hasmukh Patel in connection with the incident. The case involves a woman accountant who worked at a private company in the Sector-25 GIDC area.
According to the media reports, the woman, a resident of Ahmedabad’s Gota area, was employed as an accountant at HBC Life Sciences. The company is owned by Hasmukh Patel, while his brother, Himanshu Patel, had also assigned her auditing work for another firm, Maxims Holiday Private Limited. During her work, the woman discovered suspicious financial transactions worth around ₹80-85 lakh, including payments made without proper billing. This created panic among those involved.
As per the complaint, the incident took place on Thursday afternoon, 26th March. The woman was abducted from the company’s parking area and forced into a green SUV. While inside the moving vehicle, two women, identified as Sapna Dumre and Risha Desai, assaulted her.
They pulled her hair, beat her, and threatened her with serious consequences if she revealed anything. The victim claimed she was warned that she would be killed and buried if she spoke out.
After the incident, the woman contacted Hasmukh Patel and informed him about what had happened. However, instead of helping her, he pressured her not to file a complaint. The FIR also claims that the kidnapping and assault were carried out on his instructions.
The victim later approached the Sector-21 police station and filed a formal complaint, following which an investigation was launched. Acting on the complaint, police arrested Hasmukh Patel and registered a case against him and other accused individuals. It is worth noting that Hasmukh Patel served as the state organisation minister of AAP in 2020-21. Officials said the investigation is ongoing, and further details are likely to emerge as the probe progresses.
