Nagpur reported a security alert on Tuesday morning after explosives were found in a residential area at Dossar Bhavan Chowk, around 5 km from the RSS headquarters. Fifteen gelatin sticks and 58 detonators, including eight with connectors, were recovered from the front garden of Dr Ujjawal Lanjewar’s house.
Dr Lanjewar noticed three suspicious bags in his garden and informed the police control room. A team from Ganeshpeth Police Station, along with the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) and forensic experts, reached the spot. The explosives were secured and later shifted to a storage facility in Kalmeshwar.
Police suspect a possible link to the recent blast at an explosives unit in Katol taluka, about 25 km from Nagpur, which is currently under investigation by Nagpur Rural Police. Eleven people have been arrested in that case so far.
A case has been registered against unidentified persons at Ganeshpeth Police Station. Further investigation is underway to determine the source and purpose of the explosives.
