Uttar Pradesh: Jhansi police arrest coaching centre teacher Sohail Ahmed Khan for pressuring female Hindu students for religious conversion

Jhansi police have recently arrested a teacher identified as Sohail Ahmed Khan, of Study World Classes located in Mission Compound, for pressuring female Hindu students to convert to Islam and making objectionable remarks about Hindu beliefs. A complaint was registered against Sohail at Kotwali police station on 5th April, after which and FIR was registered against him on 6th April. According to media reports, police have recorded statements of the complainants in the matter and the accused has already been sent to jail.

Students accused Sohail of pressure for conversion and late night messages

According to the complaints, Sohail obtained numbers of female students on the pretext of providing notes. He then started messaging them late at night and tried to persuade them to convert to Islam. They further told police that Sohail also sent them objectionable messages.

Some students stated that during classes, Sohail made derogatory remarks about Hindu gods and advised them to consume beef. They further accused him of attempting to brainwash students and repeatedly discussing religion during academic sessions instead of teaching.

When students told centre director Ravi Nagoria and his wife about what had been happening, Sohail reportedly threatened them and stopped teaching, raising concerns about their academic future.

Complaint submitted to SSP office, FIR registered

Students approached the SSP office and submitted a written complaint against Sohail. Based on their complaint, an FIR was registered and he was arrested. Statements of students and other concerned parties have since been recorded as part of the investigation.

Accused claims conspiracy

On the other hand, the accused claimed that he had a dispute with the coaching centre operator over money and that he had been falsely implicated. Speaking to media, police said that both sides have been questioned. CO City Lakshmikant Gautam stated that all allegations mentioned in the complaint were being examined and further investigation is underway.
