The controversy surrounding the Nashik office of Tata Consultancy Services has intensified, with police now investigating multiple complaints of sexual harassment and forced religious conversion. The case has drawn serious attention after several employees came forward with disturbing claims about the work environment at the office. The police have formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to look into the matter in detail.
A contractual employee, speaking about the situation, made shocking claims about the behaviour of the accused. “They used to say, ‘Go make Hindu girls your girlfriends and marry them”. They used to say ‘convert your religion’ and used to talk about their religion,” the witness told NDTV.

They were promising money for bringing Hindu girls.
They would say, “Go marry Hindu girls, convert them and get money.”
Even HR had their share in it. Once the hiring of Hindu women in the office was decided, the HR was questioned and… pic.twitter.com/qZHgFI0bOX
He further said that money was involved and that such activities had been going on for years. “They were also given money. It has been ongoing since 2021. The HR madam was also funded,” he claimed. These statements have added another layer to the ongoing investigation.
Serious charges by women employees
The SIT is currently examining complaints filed by eight women employees, who have accused their colleagues of mental and sexual harassment over a period stretching from February 2022 to March 2026. Some women have also said that the human resources department failed to act on their complaints.
Police said that in one case, an accused maintained a physical relationship with a colleague on the false promise of marriage. In other instances, employees have been accused of inappropriate touching and making offensive remarks about the victims’ personal lives.
According to officials, nine complaints have been registered so far, and seven employees, including six men and one woman, have been arrested. Another accused, a woman employee, is currently absconding.
Officials also pointed out that in at least one case, a senior employee did not take action despite repeated complaints and instead “effectively abetted” the accused.
Claims of religious pressure inside office
Investigators have also come across claims that religious pressure was being exerted within the workplace. According to police, a male employee was forced to perform namaz and was mocked over his religion. Women employees who approached HR with complaints were threatened with losing their jobs.
Among those arrested are Danish Sheikh, Tausif Attar, Raza Memon, Shahrukh Qureshi, Shafi Sheikh, Asif Aftab Ansari, and HR manager Nida Khan.
According to the probe, HR Khan enticed young Hindu women with false promises of fulfilling relationships before introducing them to Islamic traditions. They were then pushed to learn Muslim religious rites and dress accordingly. She is connected to Pune, where police teams searched during the inquiry. She worked in Nashik, but her travels between the two areas are also under the radar.
Responding to the controversy, TCS said it follows a strict zero-tolerance policy when it comes to harassment and misconduct. The company added that it is fully cooperating with the investigation.
Chairman Natarajan Chandrasekaran described the allegations as “gravely concerning” and said that a detailed internal probe is already underway. The investigation is being overseen by COO Arathi Subramanian.
