Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander Sheikh Yousuf Afridi was recently shot dead by unknown gunmen in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. As per reports, the gunmen fired multiple shots at Afridi, who was a close associate of LeT commander Hafiz Saeed, the mastermind of the ghastly 26/11 terrorist attack in Mumbai.
Afridi was considered a key member of the Pakistan-based terror outfit in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region. He coordinated the terror outfit’s activities in the region. He is said to have played a significant role in strengthening LeT’s network in northwestern Pakistan. His death is expected to cause a major setback to the terror outfit’s operations.
The deadly attack on Afridi is the latest in a series of attacks on terrorists that have taken place in the past few months. In April this year, Pakistani terrorist Amir Hamza, who co-founded the Pakistan-based terrorist organisation, Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), was shot in Lahore, Pakistan, by an unidentified gunman. He survived the attack but sustained serious injuries.
In March 2025, a key LeT terrorist, Abu Qatal aka Qatal Sindhi, was also killed by unidentified gunmen in Pakistan’s Jhelum Sindh. Sindhi was also a close aide of Hafiz Saeed and was the mastermind of the 2024 Reasi attack in Jammu and Kashmir, in which nine people were killed, and 33 others were injured.
