Minor Hindu girl tells Swami Aniruddhacharya how she was lured and sexually exploited by Ashiq Ansari in Deoria, accused arrested after the video went viral

The Uttar Pradesh Police on Tuesday (12th May) arrested a Muslim man named Ashiq Ansari, who sexually exploited a minor Hindu girl in Deoria. The victim’s mother had filed a complaint at Bariarpur Police Station on 10th May, after which the police started a search for him. An FIR has been registered by the police under Sections 64(1) and 351(3) of the BNS and Section 3/4 of the POCSO Act. The accused was sent to police custody after being produced before the magistrate.

20-year-old Ashiq Ansari was nabbed after a video went viral on social media, showing the Hindu girl narrating her ordeal to Hindu guru Swami Aniruddhacharya during a religious gathering held on 24th April in Vrindavan, Uttar Pradesh. The victim is a resident of Bharauta village under the Bariarpur Police Station in Deoria district of Uttar Pradesh. The accused is also a resident of the same village.

Speaking to Swami Aniruddhacharya, the Hindu girl revealed that Ashiq Ansari came in contact with her when she was 14 years old. The Hindu girl studied in a private school, and she told Swami Aniruddhacharya that most of the male students in her school are Muslims. She added that most of her female classmates are in relationships with Muslim students.

Ashiq Ansari also studied in the same school, and he started talking to her. The friendship developed into a relationship, and he subsequently sexually exploited her. He even performed a marriage ceremony with her in a temple and threatened to slit his wrists in case she broke ties with him.

Her studies suffered due to this, and she failed her 10th board exams. The victim said that Ansari extorted ₹29,000 from her by blackmailing her.

Listening to her, Swami Aniruddhacharya said that the relationship was wrong because she was a minor and the boy was an adult. He also said that the boy will take her to the Gulf and sell her there as a prostitute. He commented that this is rape.

After the video went viral, Deoria Sadar MLA Shalabh Mani Tripathi sent a letter to the Superintendent of Police (SP) regarding the matter. Following that, Bariarpur police registered an FIR under the sexual assault and POCSO Act and arrested Aashiq Ansari from his village Chak Madhopur Mathiya.

Station House Officer Deepak Singh stated that the FIR was filed against the accused based on the complaint of the girl’s mother. He was produced in court on Tuesday and sent to jail.
