Hyderabad ACB raid: Survey and Land Records officer caught with crores in cash, gold, and premium properties estimated at ₹150 crore

On Tuesday, 16th June, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) conducted raids at several locations linked to Sunkari Narahari Rao, Deputy Director of Survey and Land Records (Multi Zone-II), Telangana, Hyderabad, after registering a disproportionate assets case against him under the Prevention of Corruption Act.

During the operation, ACB teams recovered around ₹1.54 crore in cash, bank deposits worth ₹2.29 crore, and fixed deposits valued at ₹5.04 crore. Officials also found nearly 1.3 kg of gold ornaments, 8 kg of silver, and a luxury car.

Properties found during searches

The searches uncovered several immovable properties linked to the officer. These include five open plots in Rangareddy district, 1.24 acres of agricultural land at Maheshwaram, a 2,500-square-foot flat in a high-rise building at Puppalaguda, and two 1,860-square-foot flats in a high-rise complex at Narsingi. A 1,377-square-foot flat at Rajendranagar was also identified.

Apart from these, ACB officials detected a G+3 building at TNGOs Colony, Gachibowli, and a G+2 residential building at Chatrinaka.

Bank lockers yet to be opened

Officials said they also identified two bank lockers held in the name of Narahari Rao’s wife. The lockers are yet to be opened and will be examined as part of the ongoing investigation.

Assets value and further action

According to the ACB, the total value of assets detected so far is about ₹13.05 crore based on documented values. However, officials believe the market value of the immovable properties could exceed ₹150 crore.

The searches were conducted simultaneously at the officer’s residence and other premises linked to his relatives and associates. Officials said verification of the assets is continuing.

Following the raids, Narahari Rao was produced before the Special ACB Court in Nampally, which remanded him to judicial custody.
