Jharkhand: Petrol bombs thrown at RSS office in Ranchi by 2 bike-borne men, BJP alleges huge conspiracy to create unrest

On 16th June (Tuesday) late night, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) office in Jharkhand’s Ranchi was attacked by two unidentified persons using petrol bombs. The incident unfolded at Nivaranpur in the Chutia police station area. No damage or casualties were reported, and the bombs did not make it to the office complex. The terror attack was captured by CCTV cameras in the area.

Two individuals, one in orange trousers and a blue shawl with his face exposed and the other in blue jeans and a t-shirt with a seemingly white shawl concealing his face, were seen approaching the property at 12:37 am in the approximately 45-second clip.

The duo filled chilli glass bottles with petrol, lit them, and hurled them towards the RSS office. One of the explosives struck close to the boundary wall, but the other failed to reach the intended target. Afterwards, the pair escaped from there.

According to Ranchi City SP Paras Rana, police teams and forensic specialists raced to the scene after they learned about the incident. A thorough investigation is in progress and evidence from the scene has been gathered. He added, “The investigation conducted so far suggests the involvement of two people. CCTV footage obtained from the area shows two suspects attempting to throw petrol bombs towards the RSS office. Efforts are underway to identify and apprehend them.”

“Two bottles have been found. FSL is examining them. Cyber DSP and other police officials have been tasked in the case. A team headed by the police commissioner has been constituted. On the analysis of the CCTV footage, we have got information about a few suspects,” mentioned Deputy DSP (City) KV Raman.

On 17th June (Wednesday), the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) attacked the state government and demanded an extensive inquiry into the occurrence. Multiple BJP members went to the location after the incident.

“There was a taxi with a yellow number plate parked a little distance away from here, along with two motorcycles. They came on the motorcycles. They came, said something, then tied it, and then threw a bomb that exploded in the air. Then they came again and threw another one, but this time it did not explode on the ground. It broke apart. It was a petrol bomb,” stated MoS Defence and BJP leader Sanjay Seth.

“What was the purpose of throwing a petrol bomb? To spread fire, because it contains petrol, which is highly inflammable. Vehicles were parked there, and all our campaign workers and brothers were inside. What would have happened if the petrol had spread, exploded on the ground, and caused a fire? The entire area could have gone up in flames. There is a huge conspiracy to create unrest in Ranchi, a very big conspiracy. By God’s grace, that conspiracy has failed. But we will not allow any conspiracy to succeed. We will not let Ranchi become disturbed, and we will not let Jharkhand be disturbed,” he declared.

“In a way, it can be said that there was preparation to carry out a major incident across the state. And as soon as we got the information in the morning, we came and met the ‘prant pracharak,’ got full information. Then from here, I spoke to the DGP, also spoke to the SP, and also spoke to the DC. So first, we have said that an arrest should be made in this matter, and then a police picket should also be set up,” remarked Jharkhand BJP leader and MLA Babulal Marandi.
