Yogi Government expands trade ties with BRICS nations, exports from Uttar Pradesh cross $5.36 billion

The Yogi government is steadily strengthening Uttar Pradesh’s trade, investment and technology partnerships with BRICS countries. During the financial year 2025-26, the state’s exports to BRICS member and partner nations crossed $5.36 billion, reflecting the growing global demand for products made in Uttar Pradesh.

According to the state government, exports worth nearly $3.938 billion were sent to BRICS member countries, while goods valued at around $1.429 billion reached BRICS partner nations. Products exported from the state include machinery, garments, leather goods, carpets and precious stones.

The figures were highlighted during the three-day BRICS MSME Forum held in Agra, which brought together representatives from BRICS countries and officials associated with the MSME sector.

Speaking at the forum, Uttar Pradesh MSME Minister Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary said the MSME sector has become one of the biggest contributors to the state’s economy. He noted that around 96 lakh MSME units are currently operating across Uttar Pradesh, providing employment to nearly 1.65 crore people.

The minister said the One District One Product (ODOP) scheme has played a key role in taking traditional products and local craftsmanship to international markets. Under the scheme, more than 20,000 beneficiaries have received margin money assistance of about ₹897 crore.

The initiative has also helped create around 3.16 lakh employment opportunities across the state, according to the government.

The state government highlighted that over 4.41 lakh traditional artisans have benefited from the Vishwakarma Shram Samman Yojana. The scheme provides modern toolkits and skill training to help artisans improve their livelihoods.

To encourage self-employment among young people, the Yogi government has also launched the Chief Minister Youth Entrepreneur Development Campaign. Under the programme, youth are being offered interest-free and collateral-free loans. The government aims to establish 10 lakh new micro-enterprises over the next 10 years through this initiative.

To further strengthen the industrial ecosystem, MSME parks are being developed under the PLEDGE scheme. The government said parks have already been approved in 12 districts, which are expected to provide better infrastructure and growth opportunities for small businesses and entrepreneurs.

Officials said these efforts are helping Uttar Pradesh emerge as an important hub for exports, manufacturing and entrepreneurship while deepening its economic engagement with BRICS nations.
