Delhi: British School, Sanskriti School and one more evacuated after bomb threat emails

At least three schools in Delhi received bomb threats on Tuesday morning, 15th September, leading to the evacuation of students and staff and a major security response. The British School, Sanskriti School and Sardar Patel Vidyalaya received the threats over email, following which police teams and emergency services reached the schools.

The Delhi Police received information from the schools in the New Delhi district between around 10.30 am and 10.45 am. Soon after, police personnel, bomb detection teams, bomb disposal squads, dog squads and Delhi Fire Services teams were sent to the locations.

Schools evacuated as a precaution

The school premises were cleared as a precaution while security teams began anti-sabotage checks. Police carried out detailed searches of the buildings and surrounding areas to make sure there was no threat to students or staff.

So far, nothing suspicious has been found at the schools, police said. The authorities are also examining the threat emails and working to find out who sent them.

Sardar Patel Vidyalaya informs parents

Sardar Patel Vidyalaya informed parents that all students had been safely evacuated after the school received a security threat. The school said the police were informed and were taking the required steps.

The school also said that the Middle School students had already finished their examinations, while Senior School students had completed most of their exams. The management said it would assess the situation before deciding how to conduct the remaining Senior School examinations and would update parents once a decision is taken.

Parents at Sardar Patel Vidyalaya said Tuesday was the first day of the half-yearly examinations. The bomb threat, however, resulted in the immediate evacuation of the school.

Security checks at the affected schools are continuing as police investigate the emails and try to identify the sender.
