Three men have been arrested in Bihar’s Jamui district after a minor Class 10 boy and girl were stopped, questioned, molested, and harassed while returning from coaching classes. The incident took place on 19th September between 6 pm and 7 pm and came to light after the disturbing video went viral.
The arrested men have been identified as Mithilesh Kumar, Pramod Kumar and Golu Kumar, all residents of a village in Jamui district. Police have also identified others seen in the videos and are conducting raids to arrest them.
Girl dragged away, touched inappropriately
The two students were returning from their coaching classes on a scooter when a group of men stopped them in an isolated area. The men surrounded the students, abused them and forced them off the scooter.
Videos of the incident show the boy being held by his shirt collar while the group stops the two from leaving. The girl faced more harassment. One of the men is seen grabbing her from behind, touching her inappropriately and dragging her away for some distance. He is also seen lifting and carrying her while she tries to get away.
The girl is seen folding her hands and pleading with the men to let them go. Despite her pleas, the group continued to harass and humiliate the duo.
The boy and girl tell the group that they study at the same school and that their families know they are friends. One man slaps the boy, and the other man asks him to call his family. The group is later heard telling the two to leave. Another video shows the group chasing them as they try to escape on the scooter.
FIR registered under POCSO, BNS
Jamui Police took action soon after the videos of harassment surfaced online. District Magistrate Naveen Kumar said the police had not received a complaint initially. The victims were later identified, contacted, and their statements were recorded.

Following this, an FIR was registered at Jamui Sadar police station. Jamui Police Station Case No. 428/26, dated 21st September, 2026, has been registered under Sections 74 and 76(3)(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 8 and 12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Police said the action was taken on the instructions of the District Magistrate, and the case is being investigated.
SIT formed and the raids underway
Superintendent of Police Jamui Vishwajeet Dayal has formed a special investigation team (SIT) headed by Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Deepti Monali. Raids are being carried out to arrest the remaining people seen in the videos.
The police press release said the people seen in the viral footage have been identified and three have already been arrested. Police are also taking steps to remove the uploaded video from social media.
SP Dayal described the incident as unfortunate and said no one would be allowed to take the law into their own hands. Police have appealed to people not to circulate the video and said the identities of the two minors will be kept confidential.
