An important breakthrough has occurred in the molestation and assault case of two teens, a girl and a boy, in Jumai of Bihar. The father of the main accused, Nandan Yadav, has also been arrested in connection with a 2003 double-homicide case. The man identified as Ganouri (Ganauri or Ganori) Yadav has been evading capture for 23 years.
The police investigated Nandan’s background after nabbing him and discovered the criminal history of his father during interrogation. They found that on 3rd April 2003, a business dispute resulted in the murder of two brothers, DP Yadav and Pune Yadav, in Pratappur village, and Ganouri was named as the perpetrator. However, he had been on the run for more than twenty years and was eventually placed under judicial custody on 23rd September (Wednesday) after his capture in Pratappur.
Ganouri was the only one of the eleven defendants in the case who had not been arrested. The others had been released on bail. Sansari Devi, the mother of the victims, listed him as one of the accused in an FIR she submitted at the Town police station following the horrific episode. He is accused of murder, rioting and unlawful assembly in addition to being charged under the Arms Act.
According to other reports, police were looking for Nandan, who had been fleeing after a case was filed against him. During a raid on his Jamui home, police detained a number of his family members, including his father and learned that he was sought in the double-murder case during verification.
Afterwards, action was taken against him. Ganouri has now been caught, while several of the other accused have already completed their sentences. Police informed that a chargesheet was submitted against him, but he managed to abscond during the trial. They have assured a speedy trial in the case.

Nandan was taken into custody over molesting a minor girl and his Class 10 companion on a Jamui road. He was shot in the leg later, when authorities prevented his attempt to flee. The two teens, who went to the same coaching centre, were returning on a scooter from a neighbouring hill station when the incident happened on the evening of 19th September.
They were stopped, abused and forced off the two-wheeler by the offenders, who even chased the pair when they tried to leave. Shocking videos surfaced on social media, revealing the entire episode, after which action was taken in the matter.
The boy was seen being held by his shirt collar while the group stopped the two from leaving. The girl faced more harassment. One of the men grabbed her from behind, touching her inappropriately and dragging her away for some distance. He also lifted and carried her while she tried to get away. She folded her hands and pleaded to let them go, but the group continued to harass and humiliate the duo.
The authorities have already arrested 5 people, including two juveniles. Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act has also been invoked in the case. Meanwhile, a lawyer slapped one of the accused, Hareram Yadav, during his court appearance.
