On 17th October (Saturday), Delhi Police have registered multiple First Information Reports (FIRs) against CJP supporters who violated prohibitory orders in Connaught Place and other parts of the national capital, a day earlier. Police warned that repeat offenders will face further legal action.
The action came after CJP protesters gathered around Connaught Place despite repeated public announcements asking people to disperse. This prompted police to initiate legal proceedings under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).
The section empowers magistrates to issue orders to prevent potential disturbances to public order. The prohibitory orders, issued under the same provision, had banned mass gatherings in Connaught Place and adjoining areas.

The procession was part of the “Lehra Do Tiranga” rally called by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP). They are demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Hundreds of CJP supporters and so-called student activists staged a flash procession across Connaught Place amid a massive police deployment on Friday.
According to police officials, displaying the national flag was not prohibited, but organising a procession, assembling a crowd without permission or creating unrest was a clear violation of BNSS Section 163, leading to legal action against anarchic elements. In Connaught Place & other parts of Delhi, security personnel remained deployed to prevent unauthorised gatherings and maintain law and order.
Delhi police detained around 150 demonstrators who were detained during Friday’s procession across central Delhi. CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke, the perpetrator who called for the procession and tried to cause chaos, was placed under preventive detention and now faces proceedings before a Special Executive Magistrate under Sections 126 and 170 of the BNSS.
