Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday accused the Opposition of peddling “false narratives” to mislead the public, asserting that the BJP’s politics is rooted in truth and public trust. Addressing a conference of urban and rural booth presidents in Gorakhpur, he urged party workers to strengthen the organisation at the grassroots, saying electoral victories are ultimately secured at the booth level.
Calling booth workers the party’s most crucial link with the public, Adityanath said it was their responsibility to counter what he described as the Opposition’s misinformation campaign and reinforce people’s faith in the BJP.
“The opposition believes that if a lie is repeated often enough, it eventually becomes the truth. We believe a lie always remains a lie. Truth may remain hidden behind dust or fog for some time, but it ultimately shines through and becomes the foundation of public trust. The BJP represents that trust,” he said.
He further alleged that Opposition parties were deliberately attempting to manufacture misleading political narratives and urged party workers to expose what he termed their “conspiracy and mischief.”
Referring to the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Adityanath claimed that the Congress had sought to influence voters by using NGOs to distribute forms promising financial benefits.
“You witnessed this during the 2024 elections. Congress, through NGOs operating at the booth level, got forms filled claiming that ₹1 lakh would be deposited into every person’s bank account once it came to power. FIRs were later registered over this exercise,” he alleged.
Emphasising the BJP’s focus on grassroots organisation, Adityanath invoked Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s oft-repeated assertion that elections are decided at the booth level rather than in legislatures.
“The Prime Minister says the real Kurukshetra of an election is not the country, the state, the Lok Sabha or the Assembly—it is the booth. Win the booth, and you win the election. But booths can only be won through a strong organisation, meticulous planning and sustained public outreach,” he said.
Drawing an ideological contrast between the BJP and its political rivals, Adityanath said the contest was one between truth and falsehood.
“Since the beginning of creation, good and evil have existed together. One side believes in lies, division, anarchy, hooliganism, mafia rule, loot and destruction. The other believes in truth, righteousness, celebration and positivity,” he said.
“We are committed to eliminating the mafia, ensuring public welfare and uniting society. This positive approach brings constructive forces together,” he added.
Highlighting the BJP government’s record, the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister said India had undergone a remarkable transformation under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership over the past 12 years.
“We have delivered on our promises. Under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, 140 crore Indians have witnessed the rise of a new India. The world no longer views India with suspicion but with trust and respect,” he said.
Adityanath also credited the BJP’s “double-engine government” for changing Uttar Pradesh’s image over the past nine years, claiming that places such as Gorakhpur, once viewed with scepticism, are now seen with confidence and respect.
Throughout his address, Adityanath underscored the central role of booth-level workers in the BJP’s electoral strategy, while accusing the Opposition of attempting to mislead voters through fabricated narratives and urging party cadres to take the party’s message directly to the people.
