American Pop band ‘Cigarettes After Sex’ cancels show in Congress-led Karnataka days citing ‘technical’ issues days after Coldplay’s success in Maharashtra, Gujarat

Cigarettes After Sex (CAS), the American dream pop band, had to cancel its concert in Bengaluru, scheduled for Tuesday, January 28, 2025, just 20 minutes before the gates were set to open, citing technical and production issues.

The band, renowned for their captivating melodies, was set to perform as part of their X World Tour, following the release of their 2024 album.

Taking to X, the band tweeted, “Unfortunately the local production had technical difficulties they couldn’t fix. we tried everything we could to make the show happen, but the problems are with the local production & beyond our control. we waited months & months to see you & are heartbroken.”

The development comes days after the smashing success of British band Coldplay, which performed in Mumbai and Ahmedabad, the two cities under the governance of BJP governments.

The band announced on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday that their final show in India, held in Ahmedabad on Sunday, attracted a record-breaking crowd of 1,34,000 live attendees. The concerts and arrangements made for the show earned plaudits from several quarters, including the residents of Mumbai and Ahmedabad as well as the attendees who lavished praises on the authorities for world-class preparations.
