The Tawang district of Arunachal Pradesh was in the grips of a wildfire that broke out on Friday, threatening lives and property.
As per sources, the fire, which erupted in the Tawang Chu River below the Sakgyur village in the Lungla subdivision at around 10 am, spread swiftly in the surrounding jungles, triggering a quick response from the administration.
The fire was subsequently brought under control by collective efforts of the district administration, police, Army, Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), and villagers. However, sources claim that the blaze is still raging in the jungle.
The officials have reportedly revealed that the fire is still spreading, aided in part by challenging terrain that has thrown spanners in the work for teams involved in dousing efforts.
